What Does The Holy Bible Say About Abortion?
Christian views on abortion seem to vary dependent upon the Christian expressing his or her opinion. Some will pander to the opinions of others. Some will speak out of a place of ignorance. Some will speak from experience (regretting their past decisions or expressing relief that they turned away from what seemed at the time like the only choice). Whatever reason or rationale is applied – the response provided by an individual is only ever that individual’s response. The truth can only ever be found within The Word of God.
A gift from God or a burden to break the bank?
When we hear people talk about the pros and cons of abortion, we hear them rationalize about the financial implications of having a newborn baby in the home (inside or outside of marriage). They argue the mother’s right to choose a career or label the lack of a career and insufficient income over the rights to life of another human being. Those looking to justify the removal of life at this early stage mention the growing population and the impact another (unwanted) human being will have on the fragile planet. Many, many other reasons are put forth as to why the baby should not be born. ALL these reasons are mere opinions, nothing more, and hold no place with our creator.
Statistically, abortion figures across the globe make for a sickening sight – even by our own sorry human standards. By God’s standards, we fall far short of what He had hoped for us. Still, we excuse the statistics (or hide them) with stories about women being raped or forced to carry the child full-term while risking their own life. While these stories may be true, the numbers never add up to support the argument for murder (termination, as it is called) in my opinion. But that’s only my opinion… and you’ll see what I think of my own opinion below.
- – The Guardian newspaper refers to the 2011 statistics (Over 196,000 abortions) in England and Wales as “Fascinating Insights”
- – China -under its one-child policy – has reported aborting over 336,000,000 babies (Yes, you read that right – 336 million babies) in the last four decades
- – Billionaire George Soros continues to fund the Irish campaign to repeal the 8th Amendment as part of his ongoing agenda to depopulate the planet
My opinion, Your opinion… it doesn’t count. It doesn’t matter what I think. The Truth is all that matters. God’s Word is all that matters.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32 KJV).
So put all your pre-conceived ideas and opinions (and feelings if you can) to one side and let’s look at The Holy Bible to see what our creator says about abortion.
Father’s Perspective on Life and Death
- Exodus 20:13 – Thou shalt not kill
The Lord our God is clear on how He views those who choose to take another life. When God spoke to Moses, He gave his servant clear instructions to deliver to the children of Israel. The Law was set. God had spoken. Those who ignored or denied the Word of God would be judged.
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again (Matthew 7:2).
If we choose to reject the life within us, can we not expect rejection from God?
If we take a life and cast it aside, can we not expect our own to be taken and thrown into the pit of eternal fire?
If we ignore the Word of God, can we not expect Him to ignore our words when we stand before Him?
The Lord is a loving God
He is peaceful, patient, forgiving to those who repent of their sins and turn to Jesus for salvation. But He is the creator of ALL life. He loves His children. He has plans for each and every one of them. He is waiting for every single one of His children to reach out to Him and call upon His name. He hears every word. He sees everything. He has created ALL things.
He won’t ignore you.
Will you ignore Him?
When we ignore His word, we turn our backs on our creator.
We turn to doctors, physicians, friends, family, religion, politicians, and anyone else we can find with an opinion. But all they have is an opinion. Father has only the truth.
And when we turn away from Him and look to others for the answer, we sadden and disappoint Him.
I the LORD thy God am a jealous God (Exodus 20:5 KJV).
The following verse will show you why God (The Father of creation) looks upon His children with a jealous love.
- Psalms 127:3 – Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
The Lord is teaching His people to value their children highly – after all, they are a blessing from Him. We should, shouldn’t we?
When we are blessed with a child, we are given a gift from God. He will provide all that we need to support our children if we only believe in Him. He always meets our need when we believe in Him. Have faith and Father will provide for you and your family. Don’t reject Him.
He never rejects us
If we reject Father’s gift of life, can we not expect Him to reject us?
If we see His gift as a burden, will He not see us in the same way?
If we value our own circumstances above those of the life living within us, how can we expect Him to value us when we stand before Him?
For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether [it be] good, or whether [it be] evil (Ecclesiastes 12:14 KJV).
The next verse will show you how long The Lord has known each and every one of us.
- Jeremiah 1:5 – Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, [and] I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
When God speaks to the prophet Jeremiah, He gives strength and encouragement to lift Jeremiah and prepare him for the role The Lord has planned for him. Jeremiah says he is only a child and Father tells him how long He has known him and what He will do to support and protect Jeremiah. This chapter goes on to say; But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.
If He has known each one of us for so long, how can we question His love for each child living within a woman’s womb?
If He has said He will comfort, protect and provide for those who have faith in Him, how can we deny Him the right to be a father to every child on earth?
If He is with us in our difficult times, how can we not prosper when we trust Him?
God’s plan is perfect. Trust Him alone. He always has the answer.
The final verse shows Father’s plan in all it’s glory.
- Luke 1:41 – And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost
Elisabeth was the mother of John The Baptist (and the cousin of Mary, the mother of Jesus) – who was born of The Holy Spirit. Life is created at the moment the seed is planted in the womb and Father has a plan for how each seed will grow. God had given Elisabeth the seed of John The Baptist and through John’s work, he had prepared the way for the ministry of Jesus Christ.
And through Jesus, we were saved.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me ( John 14:6).
Have you called out to Jesus to save you?
If you’re hurting, He will comfort you.
If you’re lost, He will find you.
If you’re lonely, He will be your friend.
It doesn’t matter who you are or what you have done.
Jesus came to save the lost, broken, hungry, sick.
He came to give each of us a second chance. Whatever sins we might have committed or considered. Whatever troubles we might be facing. Whatever life we might have had. God sent His only son to provide salvation to ALL who turn away from their sins and believe on His name.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved (John 3:17 KJV).
If you’re not right with God, today you can change that. You can turn your life around with Jesus. Get saved Now.
